Icon Maker for BlackBerry PlayBook

Introduction

Icon Maker allows you to quickly create professional quality icons for your BlackBerry PlayBook applications. This tool implements UI guidelines recommneded by BlackBerry.

For BlackBerry PlayBook AIR and WebWorks SDKs, you are required to provide the application icon in PNG format in size of 86x86 pixels, having contents inside of 76x76 pixels area.

Icon Maker allows you to select a 76x76 pixels rectangle from any PNG, JPG or GIF image, and it automatically adds 5 pixels buffer around your selection when you click Create Icon button. Making it recommended 86x86 icon, perfect for your PlayBook applications.

Quick Start Guide

1. Create your artwork in Photoshop or any other graphics tool, and save it in the PNG format.
2. Load your image in the Icon Maker.
3. Click the icon template on the left to choose the shape of the output icon.
4. Drag the selection box to choose the area from the image you wish to use for your icon.
5. You can use Arrow Keys and Shift + Arrow Keys to precisely position the selection box.
6. Use the zoom slider to adjust the image size.
7. Click the [Create Icon] button to generate and your icon for your PlayBook application.
8. Save the icon file by clicking the [Save Icon] button when icon creation process is complete.
